Anticipating the Lisbon Art Week, "THIS IS NOT A WHITE CUBE" is showcasing an international and collaborative contemporary art exhibition titled "Embodied Narratives."
Exploring a diverse array of mediums, including painting, ceramics, photography, and installation, the show embodies the current demand in contemporary African art for expression through figuration and portraiture, whether individual or collective, and the sharing of moments of vulnerability and triviality. Figurative gestures inspired by mundane space that grows in opposition to the previous cycle of fetishization and hyper-stylization of the black body.
