EMBODIED NARRATIVES: International group show
The show explores a wide variety of media, including painting, ceramics, photography and installation, and encapsulates a growing trend in contemporary African art, which emphasizes figuration and portraiture as vehicles of expression.
Whether through individual or collective representations, the integrated artists delve into the dimensions of vulnerability and everyday life, presenting moments of intimacy and banality, denoting a significant shift in artistic discourse and a break from the historical trends of colonial tradition preceding visualities associated with the fetishization and hyper-stylization of the black body.
