THIS IS NOT A WHITE CUBE is pleased to announce Architectures of the Invisible, a solo show presenting new artworks by the portuguese artist Gabriel Garcia, on view at Auditório Municipal Augusto Cabrita, in Barreiro, from September 12th to November 1st 2026.
Architectures of the Invisible brings together a body of paintings that explores the silent structures underpinning human experience: memory, identity, relationships, vulnerability, absence and transformation. Through seemingly simple and everyday situations, Garcia’s works lead the viewer towards a territory where visible reality intersects with psychological, symbolic and poetic dimensions. The human figure occupies a central position within this exploration, appearing in moments of suspension, introspection and encounter, while ordinary objects and gestures become charged with meanings that extend beyond the immediate scene.
Architectures of the Invisible marks an important moment in the relationship between Gabriel Garcia and THIS IS NOT A WHITE CUBE, as the artist joins the gallery’s programme as its latest collaboration. His work will subsequently be presented by the gallery at Drawing Room Lisboa 2026, extending this collaboration into the context of Portugal’s contemporary art scene.
