Laboratório do Atlântico on view at LAC – Laboratório de Actividades Criativas, in Lagos, Portugal, until 25 July 2026. Curated by João Carlos Silva and Ricardo Barbosa Vicente, the exhibition brings together artists whose practices engage with São Tomé and Príncipe as a territory of creation, memory and critical reflection, exploring histories of circulation, labour, identity and resistance across the Atlantic.
Among the participating artists are Eduardo Malé, Amadeo Carvalho,Vês Três Collective (Ana Malta, Madalena Pequito e Maria Matias) and René Tavares as well as other artists whose work has developed in close dialogue with the archipelago, its landscapes and its Atlantic histories. Through painting, photography, installation, sound installation, drawing and video, the exhibition proposes the Atlantic as a space of encounter, exchange and cultural transformation.
By bringing together diverse artistic perspectives shaped by São Tomé and Príncipe, Laboratório do Atlântico celebrates the richness of the archipelago's cultural heritage while opening new conversations around contemporary artistic practice, collective memory and transnational narratives within the Lusophone world.
