Sueki Angola, 1981

Apresentação
N'dongo Mukongo ia Suekí, whose meaning in Kimbundu - one of Angola's national dialects - is "a crocodile in search of brighter days", is the pseudonym of Ronaldo Ferreira, a self-taught multidisciplinary artist. Born in Angola in 1981, he moved to Cape Town (South Africa) in 1997 to finish school at St George's School and then, in 2000, to Lisbon (Portugal), where he attended the technical course in Graphic Design at ETIC - Escola Técnica de Imagem e Comunicação. After graduating, he worked in advertising until 2004 and has been freelancing ever since.

After returning home, he worked in editorial design for various national publications and newspapers, such as "O PAÍS", "Exame Económico", and "Vida" magazine, while also working as a freelance designer and photographer for cultural events. His professional artistic career began in 2015, with work carried out between Italy and Angola. He has participated in various solo and group exhibitions, art fairs and artist residencies in countries such as Angola, Portugal, France, Turkey, Cape Verde and South Africa.

His work mainly explores themes related to identity, migration and recurring social problems, with a special emphasis on Africa and its diaspora. Suekí combines various means of expression, including photography (digital and analogue), video, painting, drawing, collage, installation and performance. She uses a variety of materials, such as wood, metal, wire, recycled and found objects. In her creations, she seeks to fuse rationality and intuition, unveiling between multiple layers the marginal side of life and forgotten or invisible realities.
