The artist joins the current edition of the Residência Artística FAAP — São Paulo, where he is in residence from 3 February to 2 July 2026.
The Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP) has established itself as a leading institution in the fields of culture, education and business, distinguished by a trajectory marked by innovation and a pioneering spirit. Since 2005, Residência Artística FAAP — São Paulo has welcomed national and international artists to the historic Lutetia Building, in the centre of São Paulo, fostering a context of work, research and exchange.
Based in Lisbon, Pedro Besugo develops a practice that moves across drawing, painting and sculpture, approaching drawing as a structure of thought, construction and projection into space. His research engages with maps, plans, routes, cities and systems of territorial organisation, opening up an ongoing reflection on the relationships between memory, time and place.
Through a visual language shaped by stratification and by the expansion of drawing into the three-dimensional field, the artist’s work foregrounds the instability of space and the continuous processes of transformation and reconfiguration of territory.
Within the framework of the residency, the artist is also participating in the Seminários de Investigações Contemporâneas I and II, as well as in other activities developed with the institution’s faculty and students. Throughout the programme, the residency also includes Open Studio events, making visible the creative and research processes of its resident artists.
