As an extension of the authentic experiences of Quinta da Comporta, the Comporta Art Centre was created as a space dedicated to artistic expression and cultural dialogue.
In the heart of Carvalhal, just a few steps from the resort, the CENTRE occupies the village's former social centre, reviving its community spirit through contemporary art.
The inaugural exhibition, Entre Mãos, Matérias e Memórias (Between Hands, Materials and Memories), offers a journey through shared memories, materials and languages that unite the Portuguese-speaking world. The works of Ana Silva, Beltrán de Montauzon, Délio Jasse, Jacira da Conceição and René Tavares go beyond simple representation to evoke memories, break narratives and give shape to silence in this first exhibition curated by Shanna Câncio and in partnership with the THIS IS NOT A WHITE CUBE gallery, the Filomena Soares gallery and the WAAU Foundation - World African Artists United.
