António Faria Portugal, b. 1966
Overview
António Faria develops systematic activity in the field of drawing on paper, preferably in large monochrome formats. His predilection goes for figurative and realist depictions of a luxuriant nature, plants, forests, branches, flowers, leaves and birds, favouring the traditional genres of landscape and still-life. Most recently, his practice evolved towards multimedia projects, blending charcoal drawing with video, light and sound installations. Faria graduated from IADE, in Communication Design and completed the Advanced Course in Visual Arts at Ar.Co. His work was shown in various collective and solo exhibitions in Portugal and abroad.
